Gray began his career as electronics engineer, specializing in component engineering design and support of Navy Communications equipment for Superior Engineering and Electronics, Inc. to Radian Engineering, Inc. and VEDA, Inc. Through his work, Gray’s leadership and value recognition for superior change control skills quickly gained attention where he was outsourced directly to NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C.
Gray’s vision and leadership as President and CEO of the company he started in 1991, SMART Technology, Inc, allowed he and his company to develop a variety of disruptive technologies with successful commercial applications. Amongst Gray’s many accomplishments as a leader of innovation include the assembly of the team that field-tested and proved the safety of the initial technology and recommendation for rapid deployment of what came to be known as the commercialized Global Positioning System technology (GPS) which revolutionized the way in which the world navigates. For his insight in transforming Conference Rooms at the U.S. Department of Transportation building to War Rooms utilizing information technology, the United States Secretary of Transportation awarded him and his team the Garret A. Morgan Small Business of Excellence Trail Blazer Award.
His lifetime of successful technological innovation and problem solving has brought him to the zenith of his career, he assembled a team to tackle one of the most dire problems facing the world today, the problem of delivering a cost effective solution to the burgeoning and evermore impossible requirements necessary to accommodate the exponential growth of data and broadband use that threatens to destroy the interconnectivity and innovation which has emerged from the lack of spectrum availability and architectural stagnation to properly accommodate competitive future innovation including the emergence of the internet of things (IOT). Stratos last position with a company before open his own doors was held at Argy, Wiltse & Robinson, P.C. In 2010, Stratos opened his door at Stratos & Associates, PLLC where he successful supports clients which include Synexxus, Inc, and Smart Digital Fuel, Inc. Stratos’s primary expertise is in international tax are in the areas of foreign tax credit planning, residency issues, state and local issues for international and multinational businesses, expats and inputs, pre-immigration planning, transfer pricing, FAS109 & FIN48, compensation planning, treaty positions, entity selection, organizational structuring and withholding issues, artists, entertainers, athletes and various other matters.Stratos is a speaker for the AICPA and other organizations on various international tax topics and has also written several articles and issue papers covering these topics.
